The House committee investigating the January 6th insurrection in the Capitol told former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows that he must appear for his deposition at 10 am on Friday or he will be considered in contempt of Congress. Panel chairman, Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson, wrote to Meadows attorney on Thursday night to say there is "no valid legal basis" for Meadow's noncompliance with panel's subpoena.  'Simply put, there is no valid legal basis for Mr. Meadows's continued resistance to the Select Committee's subpoena. As such, the Select Committee expects Mr. Meadows to produce all responsive documents and appear for deposition testimony tomorrow, November 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m,' Thompson wrote.

'We don't want any more black pastors': Defense attorney for three white men accused of murdering Ahmaud Arbery wants Rev. Al Sharpton BANNED from court for 'intimidating' nearly all-white jury

A defense attorney for one of the three white men charged in the murder of black jogger Ahmaud Arbery (inset) has sought to ban Rev. Al Sharpton (right) from the courtroom, claiming he is 'intimidating' jurors. Defense attorney Kevin Gough (left) on Thursday raised his concerns with the activist's presence in the Georgia court, but did not find a receptive audience in Superior Court Judge Timothy Walmsley. 'If we're going to start a precedent, starting yesterday, where we're going to bring high-profile members of the African American community into the courtroom to sit with the family during the trial in the presence of the jury, I believe that's intimidating and it's an attempt to pressure... or influence the jury,' said Gough, who represents William 'Roddie' Bryan.

Security footage of Ahmaud Arbery visiting semi-constructed house FIVE times in months before he was shot dead is shown to jury as they watch four-hour deposition from homeowner who called 911

Jurors in the trial of three Georgia men charged with Ahmaud Arbery's death were shown footage of the 25-year-old visiting a house under construction multiple times in the months before his death. It is the same home Arbery was later spotted wandering into that sparked the deadly chase by ex-cop Gregory McMichael, 65, and son Travis, 35, through the predominantly white neighborhood of Satilla Shores in the coastal city of Brunswick, Georgia on February 23, 2020. Jurors were shown the footage as they watched a four-hour recorded deposition by construction boss Larry English, 51, (top inset) who was building a 'dream second home' two houses away from the McMichaels. Arbery was first seen at the property on October 25, 2019 (main) before visiting again on November 18, (top) December 17, and on February 11, 2020. He was seen at the home a final time during the day 12 days later on February 23 when he was chased and killed.

Biden pays tribute to son Beau, the 'great negro pitcher' Satchel Paige and troops killed in Afghanistan in Veterans Day speech at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on its Centennial

Joe and Jill Biden attend wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

President Joe Biden paid tribute to his son Beau, the 'great negro' baseball player Satchel Paige, the troops killed in Afghanistan and Colin Powell during his Veterans Day address at Arlington National Cemetery. 'Each of our veterans is a link in a chain of patriots that has stood in defense of our country,' Biden said, remarking how his own son, Beau, had called him to tell him he would be serving in Iraq. 'I said, "What in the heck have you done,"' the president recalled. Biden paid tribute to a number of veterans alive and dead during his speech at the Memorial Amphitheater, which took place after he and First Lady Jill Biden attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which turned 100 years old on Thursday. Biden is the first president since President Dwight Eisenhower in the 1950s to have had a child who served in an active conflict. The late Beau Biden was a member of the Delaware Army National Guard and was deplayed to Iraq in 2008 as an Army lawyer. Beau Biden died of brain cancer in 2015. The president has suggested that burn pits in Iraq could have played a role in his son developing the fatal disease. During his remarks, Biden pledged that veterans' care would be expanded to include diseases caused by Agent Orange and burn pit exposure. It's been historically rare for a president's child to see battle, but Quentin Roosevelt, the son of President Teddy Roosevelt, was killed in action during World War I in 1918, nearly a decade after the president left office.

Actor Wallace Shawn DEFENDS Woody Allen from daughter Dylan Farrow's childhood sexual abuse allegations and says 'she, her mother Mia and brother Ronan are trapped in pledging eternal loyalty to the accuracy of her account'

Wallace Shawn DEFENDS Woody Allen from daughter Dylan Farrow's childhood sexual abuse

Actor Wallace Shawn, who has appeared in six Woody Allen movies, defended the filmmaker against sexual abuse claims by daughter Dylan Farrow in an op-ed, writing that the allegations don't 'square with the sense' he has of Allen. Shawn, 77, says Dylan may have misremembered her claims that Allen touched her inappropriately when she was 7 years old in 1992. He also posited that Dylan may have been influenced by her mother Mia Farrow's feelings toward Allen. At the time, Mia and Allen were estranged and Allen was just beginning a relationship with another one of Mia's daughters, Soon-Yi Previn. Shawn's defense, published in TheWrap on Wednesday, mirrors the lines put forth by Allen and his supporters since the case became public in the early 1990s as part of a custody battle between Allen and Mia. Dylan's brother Ronan, a journalist who has reported extensively on sexual assault by powerful men, has supported Dylan's allegations. Their brother Moses Farrow, Allen, and their adopted sister Soon-Yi, who is still married to Allen, categorically deny them. In a lengthy 3,500-word essay, Shawn criticized Dylan's rebuke of actors who continue to work with Allen despite her allegations, which she resurfaced in a New York Times op-ed in 2014.

KYLE RITTENHOUSE TRIAL: U.S. BRACES FOR MISTRIAL

Defense rests in Kyle Rittenhouse trial after days of dramatic meltdowns, explosive testimony and courtroom clashes that could still see the case tossed with a mistrial

Kenosha shooter trial is back in session with the prospect of a mistrial and protests

The eighth day of Kyle Rittenhouse's trial is in session in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Judge Schroeder could now call a mistrial at any time should he decide that Prosecutor Thomas Binger has over-stepped in any way. Early this morning the judge revealed that the court has been inundated with  offensive emails, some calling the judge a racist. Speaking ahead of the start of testimony Judge Schroeder said he would deal with all such things adding, 'I wouldn't want to be those people'. The defense is moving rapidly towards the conclusion of their case and could rest today. It has just three witnesses left to call with all three expected today. On Wednesday Rittenhouse broke down in the witness stand as he recalled the moment he was 'ambushed' by Joseph Rosenbaum the night he shot him dead.

'What tears? Knock it off': LeBron James mocks Kyle Rittenhouse's courtroom breakdown and claims that Kenosha shooter 'ate some lemon heads' before giving evidence

In response to the video of Kyle Rittenhouse (right) sobbing as he claimed self-defense for killing Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber in 2020, Lebron James (left) tweeted, 'What tears?????' 'I didn't see one. Man knock it off! That boy ate some lemon heads before walking into court.' James had previously been critical of the state's decision not to file charges against the white officer who shot Black, a black man, calling it a 'blow to the heart and to the gut.' The tweet was the first time the Los Angeles Lakers star has spoken out about the Rittenhouse trial since it began last week.

NYC Mayor-elect Eric Adams brushes off BLM threat to 'riot' and cause 'bloodshed' if he deploys plainclothes anti-crime unit: Doubles down on vow to send NYPD cops to crime-ridden areas and says 'this is my promise and I'm going to do it'

BLM activists threaten 'riots' and 'bloodshed' if Eric Adams reinstates NYPD's anti-crime

The comments came from New York BLM co-founder Hawk Newsome after debating Adams during a contentious closed-door sit-down event with the incoming Democrat leader. While Adams was able to make headway with the activists on his plans to fight poverty in the black community when he takes office, the former NYPD captain vowed to bring back the controversial anti-crime units composed of about 600 plainclothes officers that target violent crimes - something BLM was angry about. The mayor-elect doubled down on his promise Thursday, saying: 'This is what I'm going to do. That was my promise and I'm going to keep it.' Adams and Newsome also clashed about accountability on Wednesday, with the mayor-elect hitting back at the activist and saying Newsome, too, needs to be held accountable - not just sit back and make demands. The closed-door sit-down was held in Brooklyn and live-streamed on Instagram. Newsome said outside Brooklyn Borough Hall on Wednesday. 'There will be riots. There will be fire, and there will be bloodshed.' Bottom-inset: BLM protests in New York in September 2021.

'Table of six and no friends': Axed RHOC star Kelly Dodd heckles Heather and Terry Dubrow at restaurant in foul-mouthed tirade following feud over COVID

Recently axed RHOC star Kelly Dodd launched a foul-mouthed attack on former co-star Heather and her husband Terry Dubrow on Wednesday evening, as they were eating dinner at a West Coast restaurant. The feuding reality stars came to blows earlier this year, when Kelly, 46, claimed she and husband Rick had contracted COVID-19 from Heather's 16-year-old son Nicholas, 16. Finding herself at the same dining establishment as Heather, 52, and Terry, 63, the former Real Housewives of Orange County star began to insult the couple as she filmed them over her shoulder. In her social media videos, Dodd pointed fingers at the couple, calling them "losers" with "zero friends" and alleging they threatened to sue her and her husband, Rick Leventhal. "Should I ask these assholes why they're suing me?" Dodd asked. "Terry and Heather. Why are they suing me? I think [Rick] might ask why they put a cease and desist on us."

A driver was filmed running towards another motorist while brandishing a samurai-like sword in Portland, Oregon this week. In footage shared on Twitter, the man he threatens is seen keeping calm with his hands by his side, before finding the right moment to pull a rifle from the trunk of his car. Portland is seeing shootings and murders soar this year after the city's police department had its budget cut by $15million in 2020 as part of the woke city council's new defunding plan following the death of George Floyd.

Tens of thousands gather to honor the nation's fallen soldiers on Veterans Day

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which holds the bodies of three unidentified American service members. Biden placed a wreath at the Tomb to honor the fallen and those who have served in Arlington, Virginia. Big cities like New York, Nashville, and Milwaukee hosted parades, while San Diego has brought back the beloved boat parade. New York City hosted its 102nd Veterans Day parade - the largest in the nation - with more than 300 marching units that included active-duty soldiers, veteran's groups and JROTC members, 25,000 marches, 30 floats and over 150 military vehicles. Nashville's parade set off into the rainy weather with a police motorcade, an array of patriotic flags, and more. World leaders also paid respects to the day and held moments of silence.

Meghan Markle arrived at the 'Salute to Freedom' event - held on an aircraft carrier which houses the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum - in a flowing red Carolina Herrera gown with a long train which was slashed to the thigh. The 40-year-old mother-of-two's dress for the gala matched her red satin $350 Giuseppe Zanotti slingback stilettos - a color chosen to match the red poppies she and Prince Harry both wore on their outfits. Harry was in black tie, with the KCVO (Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order) Neck Order and Star on his bow tie. This is a medal given by the Queen in recognition of distinguished personal service to the monarchy. Asked on the red carpet whether Meghan was proud of her husband, she replied: 'I'm always proud of him.' Harry, who served in the British Army for ten years, handed out medals for the Intrepid Valor Awards to five service members, veterans and military families who are living with the 'invisible wounds of war'.

Princess Charlene may NOT move back to Monaco palace: Sister-in-law claims royal return to apartment above chocolate shop where she lived before going to South Africa

Princess Charlene of Monaco may NOT move back to the palace

Princess Charlene of Monaco may not live with her husband in the Prince's Palace following her return home, nor even resume her public engagements, MailOnline has learned. The claims are made by Chantell Wittstock, Charlene's sister-in-law and PR for her charitable Foundation in South Africa. The princess may return to the apartment (pictured inset), some 200 yards away from the palace (as illustrated by the map), where she was living before leaving for South Africa in January. It will inevitably cast a shadow of doubt over the staged photocall earlier this week when Charlene was reunited with Prince Albert, 63, and their children after a 10-month absence from Monaco (left).

Tiger King... the second bite! It was a lockdown TV sensation - the series about big cat owners that ended with a hitman drama and a long jail sentence. As it roars back, what does the woman Joe Exotic wanted dead have to say?

As hit Netflix show Tiger King roars back, what does the woman Joe Exotic wanted dead have

One of its stars desperately wanted to be in it but is in prison, the other is so determined to stay out of it that she's gone to court. As for the supporting cast of characters, well, many of them have returned and they're as outlandish as ever. Tiger King is back and the surprising monster streaming hit of the pandemic promises to be just as deranged second time round. Tiger King, alias Joe Exotic, suited those crazy times to a tee - a mullet-haired, assault rifle-brandishing, drug-abusing, gay polygamist, hillbilly showman. He ran an anarchic roadside zoo in Oklahoma full of lions and tigers, and was fighting a vicious battle with his nemesis, Florida big cats rights activist Carole Baskin.

New colourised images give a glimpse of the camaraderie during some of WWI's bloodiest

The photos, which have also been carefully restored, feature in The Great War Illustrated 1915. The book was written by Roni Wilkinson under the pen names William Langford and Jack Holroyd, whilst the images were colourised by his son, Jon. Most of the images in the book were taken in France and Belgium on the Western Front, but others show troops as they fought soldiers from the Ottoman Empire in the disastrous Gallipoli campaign in what is now Turkey. One photo (left) shows Scottish troops - who had been dubbed 'devils in skirts' or 'ladies from hell' by German soldiers who had never seen men in kilts - sitting in a trench on the Western Front whilst accompanied by a dog. Also seen are three soldiers from the York and Lancaster Regiment outside the entrance to their dugout near the Yser Canal in Belgium in July 1915 (bottom). A third photo shows troops in Turkey (top right) as they carry their weapons and equipment.
